A grotesque formation of of spider and stone, the Arachnum Gris is a mobile colony—an aberrant creature that carries within it a teeming horde of lesser spiders. Its cavernous body allows its form to act as a haven for spider colonies which in turn guard its existence and take advantage of its moblity. Often mistaken for natural terrain until it moves, this creature is both a harbinger of infestation and a fortress for those it protects.
Unable to spin webs or bite, the Arachnum Gris serves its colony through mobility and defense. It crushes enemies with raw mass while the brood inside overwhelms threats with sheer numbers. Spiders swarm from cracks in its carapace, leap from its back, and even weave webs through its openings, giving the illusion that the monstrosity spins silk itself.
These creatures are brood guardians, proxy weavers, and aggressive incubators, launching spiderlings toward prey in brutal, instinctual feeding frenzies. They rarely travel alone—and rarely leave survivors. Perfect for DMs who want to deliver spine-tingling encounters, creeping dread, and tactical swarm mechanics.
