Beneath the desert sands, the Kakaika glide and rip around like a fish. They wait to erupt beneath anything that dares to move or accidentally crosses paths with them. Once they sense tremors on the surface, they launch prey skyward in a violent burst that turns they're fall into their final journey. Though its accuracy is terrifying, it cannot tell a creature from a cart—or a goat from a rolling tumbleweed.
Tribes will hunt the Kakaika for its leathery hide and rich meat, while others build games and honor rites around its violent habits. Whether faced as a deadly predator, a resource or a cultural icon, the Kakaika can liven many campaign settings with its sandy crazer antics.
